Not that I currently have dedicated fans of Oh The Humanity! but I figured I’d let anyone who follows this comic know that I’ll be on hiatus for the next couple weeks. I’m in the process of moving and I’m also taking this opprotunity to redesign the website to make it much better and to make it look like an actual comic website. Thanks for your patients and let it be known that I have a ton of ideas banked up and before you know it you’ll be seeing Megan and Marc back in action.

So yes pretty soon I’ll be putting the final touches on the new site for OTH and shortly there after launching the new digs. After the launching I will be increasing my out put to twice a week, once is just too lazy to get anywhere. So every Tuesday and Friday you’ll be seeing a new comic on the site minus when I’m out of town on vacation and what have you. The general function of the site will remain the same but as the popularity of the site increases and foot traffic increases (hopefully) and when I get actual fans, I’ll be adding things like Forums and other community type things. Also as I get more fans I’ll toy with the idea of doing live stream of making the comic, podcasting and all that jazz.

Finally OTH has a real website that it can be proud of. I have a lot of plans for the site and the comic but because of the labor day weekend and the time I spent putting the site together I have not had time to work on the actual comic. So the new Tues/Fri comic schedule will start next week. Starting Tues look out for 2 comics a week!

To the 28 people who saw Friday’s comic I regret to inform you that I will not be doing a comic for Tuesday, I know it’s sad. I just didn’t have the energy to produce one over the weekend. There will be one Friday.

I just finished the sketch for Tuesday’s comic and I’m about to start the sketch for Friday’s so already we’re off to a good start this week. I’m trying to get ahead of myself so that I don’t find myself in the situation I found myself in this week: It’s comic day, I have no ideas nor any sketches ready to ink/color. Yea it was bad week for me as I was racing to meet a deadline at work and finding myself exhausted when I got home. All I wanted to do at that point was eat, and relax with my wife. I wanted zero to do with my computer or anything remotely involving effort. I apologize for that, but I’m now working extra hard to ensure that I have comicus queued up for the ready just so that I’m never caught with my pants down again.

Hopefully the site will grow and I can add all the fun features and ideas I have in the to-do box for this site. I will continue to include Whiteboard Logs as I do them, I have a good one coming up on Monday so keep an eye out for that.

Unfortunately I ran into some technical difficulties yesterday with my Wacom and other various software on my computer last night. That being said I wasn’t able to finish the comic I had started over the weekend, which is sad. However I think this one is going to be pretty good as I spent a decent amount of time putting it together. So unfortunately you’ll have to wait until Friday for a new comic.

The good news is I’ll be posting a Whiteboard Log later today.

Yesterday’s comic will be the last comic for OTH in 2009 as I will be relaxing and or too busy to do them over the next couple weeks. I just want to take this time to provide thanks to everyone and anyone who reads OTH. I know you guys are out there and I want to encourage you to comment and start discussions. December specifically has been by far the best month, as far as readership is concerned, for OTH and I hope to continue growing the comic and this site in 2010. I want to give a special thanks to my wife Megan who has been supportive of this venture of mine, often providing many of the ideas for the comics I create. With out her I’m certain I would lack the motivation to succeed.

The comic will return to it’s normal two comic a week schedule starting Jan 5th with brand new comics. During the break I’m planning on doing some tweaks to the site and giving the forums proper treatment so that it looks like it belongs with the site. Starting in 2010 I’m going to do something to hopefully encourage the handful of actual fans to come out of the woodwork and and start building an OTH community. Until then, I want to wish everyone a Happy Holiday and a prosperous New Year!

Today’s “Whiners” comic marks the 50th comic for OTH. From when I started this comic in April I’ve gone through a number of different techniques and a handful of website redesigns and I’m sure I am not doing messing around with things. Being a webcomic author is fun and stressful at times. The internet can be an unforgiving beast and at times can be a very welcoming force. Some days I doubt the validity of this venture and ponder giving it up altogether. I’m still struggling with retaining visitors and also struggling to find a way to promote community and feedback. I think I have learned a significant amount from when I started but I believe I still have a lot to learn. Hopefully I can hit a stride and have this comic take off. Here’s to the next 50 comics!
